Introduction:

In 1980, Prof. Han-Min Hsia, President of the National Cheng Kung University, made great efforts to establish the National Cheng Kung University Medical Center. This medical center includes a medical school and a hospital. Its establishment helped to develop the National Cheng Kung University into a full-fledged comprehensive university. It has also improved the medical standard in Southern Taiwan and narrowed the medical gap between southern and northern Taiwan. The National Cheng Kung University Medical Center was approved for establishment in 1981. It was the first national university hospital established by the Republic of China government after it moved to Taiwan.

In its early years, Kuo General Hospital, under the management of President Kuo-Chuan Kuo, focused on obstetrics and gynecology. It has established a good reputation for its excellent medical techniques and ethics. It has grown into a general hospital in recent years to better look after patients in the south. Its obstetrics and gynecology department has also expanded into an obstetrics and gynecology unit. In recent years, under the leadership of President Kuo, Kuo General Hospital has been serving patients with a focus on women's health needs. It uses new technology, knowledge and techniques to protect the health of patients. President Kuo advocates treating patients like family members. This means that the hospital focuses on patient education in addition to treating disease. He believes that only when a patient has been properly educated can he or she be considered fully recovered. Therefore, doctors often patiently explain patient conditions and educate patients and their families about health and hygiene in the consultation room and on the wards.

National Cheng Kung University Hospital and Kuo General Hospital signed a strategic alliance in 2017 to set up collaborative wards. The alliance contributes to the effective implementation of a hierarchical medical system and helps achieve a triple-win result for both hospitals and patients.

In March 2019, Taiwan's first PRO high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) system for tumor therapy was installed in the general medical area of the National Cheng Kung University Hospital in Tainan City!
