Peking University People's Hospital was founded in 1918 and was initially named "Beijing Central Hospital". It is a grade A tertiary general hospital. The hospital has 18 key clinical departments under the Ministry of Health, 5 Peking University institutes, 3 key disciplines in Beijing and 1 key discipline of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In addition, the hospital boasts a state-level pilot demonstration zone for the talent training model, a state-level pilot demonstration site for distinctive specialties, and a state-level teaching innovation team.


About the department:
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Peking University People's Hospital was founded in April 1942 by Prof. Lin Qiaozhi, a famous obstetrics and gynecology specialist. Under the leadership of several generations of academic leaders such as Wang Yaoyun, Li Zixin, Qian Henian, Wan Huanzhong, Hu Yongfang and Wei Lihui, the department has focused on gynecological tumors, cervical lesions, pelvic floor diseases, gynecological endocrinology, minimally invasive surgery and diagnostic ultrasound. The department receives more than 150,000 outpatients and treats more than 5,000 inpatients each year, with more than one-third of the patients from other places. The Gynecologic Oncology Center and the Pelvic Floor Disease Treatment Center have also been established. Ranking second in China in the clinical discipline evaluation by the Health and Family Planning Commission, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a strong influence in China. As one of the first units in China to grant master's and doctoral degrees in obstetrics and gynecology, the department has a team of highly respected and dedicated faculty members. For decades, the department has trained a large number of clinical, research and teaching talents in obstetrics and gynecology around the world. Prof. Qian Henian and Prof. Wei Lihui are the winners of the Taoli Award given by the Peking University School of Medicine.
