About the hospital:
The hospital is a large research-oriented general hospital that integrates medical care, teaching and scientific research. It enjoys a good reputation both at home and abroad. It has a complete range of medical specialties, distinctive departments, strong technology, great multidisciplinary advantages and refined management. The hospital became the first in China to be accredited as a grade A tertiary hospital in 1989. It became one of the first hospitals in the world to be accredited by JCI in 2013. It was re-accredited by JCI in 2016.

The hospital was founded in 1869 as Hangzhou Guangji Hospital, which was established by the Anglican Church. In the early 20th century, it was hailed as "the best hospital in the Far East" by its counterparts at home and abroad. It is also the birthplace of many medical specialties in Zhejiang Province, including orthopedics and neurology and neurosurgery. The Guangji Medical School, which was established by the hospital, operated between 1885 and 1925. It was one of the first Western medical schools in China.


About the department:
The hospital's Gynecology Department has 25 medical workers, including 13 doctors, 1 professor, 3 chief physicians and 6 associate chief physicians. The department also has 4 attending doctors, including 1 doctoral supervisor and 3 master's supervisors. In recent years, the department has made remarkable achievements in clinical and basic research on gynecologic tumors. It has undertaken the projects of the "National 863 Program", the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and has published more than 20 SCI papers. The hospital is a leader in clinical treatment and basic research on ovarian cancer and endometriosis in China and took the lead in establishing the first health education website for endometriosis in China. It boasts strong endoscopic technology which is at an advanced level in China and is in the leading position in the province. More than 90% of gynecological laparotomy can be done laparoscopically. For cervical and endometrial cancers, the department performs laparoscopic radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection. It can also perform laparoscopic surgery for early-stage ovarian cancer, laparoscopic hysterectomy, uterine fibroid enucleation, ovarian cystectomy and various hysteroscopic procedures. The department can also perform laparoscopic and hysteroscopic examinations and treatment for infertility. It boasts reproductive technologies such as salpingostomy and ovulation monitoring for pregnancy. In addition, it holds regular continuing education on endometriosis and training on gynecologic endoscopic surgery. It provides training for students for further education from all over the country. The department also took the lead in introducing microwave endometrial ablation technology from the United Kingdom to treat patients with uterine bleeding disorders who have severe medical comorbidities. The department has established the Gynecologic Oncology Center, the Obstetrics Center and the Reproductive Center, and a leading medical center for obstetrics and gynecology in China.

Medical achievements: Dr. Zheng has long been engaged in clinical, scientific research and teaching work in obstetrics and gynecology. He has published more than 50 papers and treatises at home and abroad. He has led a national "863 Program" project, a project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and a project of the Provincial Natural Science Foundation of China. He has also participated in two projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He conducted further studies and postdoctoral research at the University of Kiel and the Medical Research Center of the University of Tübingen in Germany in 1992 and 2000. In 2004, he was a visiting scholar at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in the US and worked on ovarian cancer genes at the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle. He specializes in minimally invasive gynecological surgery such as hysteroscopy and laparoscopy and has profound knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis and gynecological tumors.
